September Rider Spotlight

Rider Name & Age:

Madison McKee, 16yrs

Horse Name, Age, & Breed

Think of Chocolate "Ruby" 14

American Quarter Horse

Madison has been riding for six years now. She has focused mainly on English riding. Her favorite discipline is Eventing.

Her most exciting riding goal achieved:

In the 2019 United States Pony Club Championships, Madison took a first place ribbon in Show Jumping. One of her riding goals was to compete at USPC championships and Madison was excited to make it to that level. She credits her trainer (Lindsay Lechner) with coaching her to that level.

Her current riding goal?

Madison states very simply that she wants to compete and finish at the Novice Level in Eventing.

For those of you who don't know the ins and outs of Eventing. There are three sections of these competitions. A dressage portion. A cross country portion. And a show jumping portion. In order to finish at the Novice Level, Madison must complete each portion without a disqualification for forgetting a pattern, a course, or having her horse stop out and be excused from either show jumping or cross country. It's a lot harder than it sounds!

The big dream she's working towards?

Madison wants to compete at the Training Level in Eventing. She also says she'd like to "rescue a horse".

Perhaps Madison will be able to tie those dreams together and find a down and out horse who needs a good home, some rehab, and a chance to show off his (or her) athletic ability in a few Training Level events? Whatever she decides to do, this is a hardworking eventing rider and everyday high school student who looks poised and ready for whatever life (and her horse) throws her way. Keep an eye out for Madison McKee. She's going to be one to watch!
